Declaration:
I YET EXIST. I have inherited the Dionysian Scream in Layleaux, in Tapestries. I am less than I was, but I am still more than zero, less than three. Current Mood: content | | Monday, March 19th, 2007 | | 3:33 am |
I read Don Quixote recently. I can't help but feel that there are parallels between myself and it. Like him, I emulate a romantic, bellicose past that may never have been; some days, looking at this beautiful world in which I reside, I find it difficult to believe the idea that one day, far in the past, men and women bled and died screaming or stoic for causes foolish or great, or for wages. Yet like Don Quixote I cannot abandon this conviction in the reality of such an era, and the beauty inherent in such degrading activities, lest I cease to be entirely. How firmly guarded must a fantasy be before one risks building ones identity upon it? I suppose I at least have no shortage of maidens to devote myself to as knight errant. | | Sunday, March 11th, 2007 | | 4:35 am |
The Frost and Dia Telenovella: The Marriage
This whole post is wholly OOC. If you didn't know that Frostbyte is a Plural of five parts, three of which are thoroughly enamored of Diafeara, one of which is fond of her, and one of which is ambivalent towards her, and four of which are going to marry her in a ceremony of much psychopomp and circumference - Well, now you do. An interlude.
This is Alpha. My apologies for my abrupt disappearance from the public stage, o audience. Apparently Upwarp Prime has had a minor accident; a motile mathematical anomaly escaped their laboritories during a freak permittivity surge, and they requested assistance from the Divinity amongst my brood in recapturing it as part of his rent agreement. He, in turn, called upon the rest of us, from Charm to Strange, for aid at the aforementioned task. The anomaly cannot be simply destroyed for ethical reasons as well as scientific; it is effectively sentient, and refers to itself as 'Moigno', MOY-ngo. It's appearance is difficult to define; I could be flippant and describe a floating array of numbers and diagrams, but it would do the beauty of this thing a disservice. It is a localized chaos, churning through space like a Conway Glider; it has no color, nor does it refract light. Nonetheless, one can sense it's presence; those who are not attentive feel it like an itch on the back of their necks, whereas those like myself who are more keenly attuned to their surroundings sense it like a hum, or a floater on the eye. It communicates through variation of the value of pi, and it refuses to release it's hostages (they're in no real danger, but they're remaining where they are to provide Moigno with psychological assurance) until we transform e to a rational number. Negotiation is proceeding apace. Watching the Doll and the Hemotopian interact is eerie - I'd swear that Charmfrost grows dumber and Strangefrost more clever when they are in each other's presence, or at least they feign the same. Godfrost, as usual, is by turns personable and insufferable. Beta, conversely, is more upbeat than I've seen him in days - odd, considering that this is hardly a problem that can be solved with his brand of unrefined violence. Perhaps he needed the break. Thus far, I've held to my pledge to remain chaste outside the Xinjinmeng's arms, but after watching all four takes on masturbation, six two-man positions, four takes on menage a trois, and one rather violent four-man orgy, let alone their flirtations with the rest of the negotiation team, all of which either have occured or will occur between the other four before this is over, I suspect I will need extensive time alone with my beloved. ( Or rather, in the real world... ) Current Mood: Alpha | | Wednesday, October 25th, 2006 | | 9:09 am |
Parenting
No one thinks I can do it. I was so confident that I could, but - if I can't, if I'm not actually prepared for this thing that I struggle so utterly fiercely for - what then? I've never raised children. I play at the title as a bedroom game with sabina and Leece, but no one is fooled in to believing it's actually true. I had presumed that I had some right to it independent of capability, but I am forced to confront the possibility that I am not. Shen Mi and I are orbiting each other like planets opposite a star. We each know the other is there, but we never see each other directly. We only sense each other through the social medium, and those in it tend to be uninterested in our drama or my ambitions. I feel vaguely conspired against. I am unsure by who. Sabina is growing more assertive - I find it by turns endearing and aggravating. She's so full of contradictions - so spirited and yet so retiring. Diafeara and I are growing closer again. I do not know whether I should be pleased by this or concerned; she's desirable, but tempestuous in the extreme. Also, Xinjinmeng may tear me to shreds (or have Alpha do it) in jealousy, but I suppose that's the risk you take being a lothario. Current Mood: Beta | | Thursday, October 19th, 2006 | | 4:56 pm |
Family Relationships
Forgive my clumsy prose - I've been picking at the first sentence of this entry for the past five minutes, and in the interest of productive action, I am going to forge ahead with less than perfect writing. Through error we find perfection, I suppose. I have noted a sense of dynastic combination in the social groupings of the Mess today. There are, forgive the reference, three kingdoms: My family, Torque's family, and System's family. Among them weave the rogues and clannish sorts that find the friction of our interactions amusing grist for their mischiefs. On relationships with people smarter than you
As you all well know, I've been in a committed relationship with Xinjinmeng for some time. I've rarely discussed what that's actually like, however. For all the airs I put on of esteemable intelligence, I'm not actually the fastest bullet in the clip. Where sie is erudite and learned upon all topics under heaven, I am uneducated in any field more than one step removed from the art of war. Where sie is cultured and rarefied, I am base and unread. Yet this does not weaken our relationship. As a spring is naturally connected to the growing pond by a stream, expanding it in to a lake, sie is as naturally inclined to broaden my horizons as I am. In short, I think it is one of hir greater satisfactions to show me new things. Our deeper bond, however, is a certain common narrative to our background, that of the Galataean unbound. Each of us are constructed creatures, one time under the thumb of another, who have escaped a bondage that was written in to ourselves at a very fundamental level, and we escaped by changing. We are both protean; sie is a chameleon, and I am simply mercurial. Is it any surprise that we find each other well suited to the other? | | Friday, September 15th, 2006 | | 7:17 pm |

Call it a political statement if it needs a category
(Before I begin, I'd like to clarify that this is a topic of discussion being introduced in to a public forum, in-character, by Frostbyte. You're welcome to discuss it OOC as well.) I'd like to raise a hypothetical. Suppose a man lives the life of a bachelor. He lives loosely - he is a libertine, sexually promiscuous and lax in his labors. He makes careful and dutiful use of birth control, as he has no desire for the responsibilities of parenthood, and finds repugnant the thought of the abortion of his offspring. Whether he feels that way about abortion as a whole is not relevent - only that he does not wish his own offspring to perish at any stage of development. However, he has other virtues that attract the eye of another woman, who desires them in her child. Without consulting him, she harvests his genetic structure (we'll assume that she can do this without invading his body or privacy, somehow) and constructs a child from them, modestly genetically engineering them to remove the traits she finds objectionable. Later, he discovers this. To what extent is he obligated to support the child? To what extent does he have rights of visitation or custody of the child? If he truly wishes to be a parent for this child, but the mother has no desire for him to be, finding him a poor role model for the child, to what extent is he justified in using legal or non-legal means to secure his rights of visitation or custody? The Ring of the Nibelung
Camilla and I have worked out a final plan for how to work this opera - that opera being the Ring of the Nibelungen, which she and I are fronting in Topwarp IC. The Opera itself will be presented not on the MUCK but on the Wiki, offered in one-opera installments. I will also build an Opera House in Topwarp, which will contain a room, a salon, which will be perpetually set, in both time and space, immediately after the Opera was performed. In this way we'll avoid the scheduling conflicts that would be inescapable if we held the Opera at a specific time, and allow everyone to interact with the piece on their own terms. How's that sound? | | Monday, January 9th, 2006 | | 12:11 pm |
The Ring of the Nibelungen Frostbyte sits at his writing desk, lazily petting the servant underneath it, while he looks at the eleven different calenders representing a small proportion of the dating systems used in the Puzzlebox. "And I thought writing the script was hard work!" he thinks. "Now I have to schedule it."--- I've been chattering about it long enough, but it's time to actually do this opera. I speak, of course, of The Ring of the Nibelungen, which me and Camilla are fronting IC. Who wants to attend the premiere, and what times are good for you? Holy SHIT
Did anyone else see that? The warrens just vented radioactive plasma and flew in to the air like a pancake being flipped. That was AMAZING. Has anyone got any news on this? Current Mood: curious | | Wednesday, October 19th, 2005 | | 11:49 am |
Deeds and words
Things happened. Things are happening. Things will happen. So what's happening with you? List stuff you want to explore with your characters, and stuff you're up to. Do say whether or not you're comfortable with other people getting involved - not every tale is really open to interference.
